I assure you, even if you feel like they are misbehaving, this may not be true. They may be uncomfortable in new surroundings, but it’s all okay.
As moms we worry that our child won’t behave their best at their photo session. We have taken time to find the perfect clothing selections, we have done hair, fingernails, all the things to get ready and we want the perfect portraits for our home… I have been there myself. If things don’t go exactly as planned, your child needs to feel safe so they can feel like themselves. That’s when it is important to keep the experience as low pressure as possible and we aim to do just that in our studio.
Here are a few tips to help alleviate a tough moment with your child in the studio.
Stay Calm
Children often mirror their parents. I have seen many different reactions in my studio. I promise, the session has not been ruined if things are not going at first as planned. We have all the time we need. I do not crowd my sessions. In fact, I usually don’t have more than one session in a day. Simple praise often does the trick.
Take a Break
If we need to take breaks, we take breaks. Sometimes, we might even involve a little walk outside around the studio. A snack, a cuddle, or a drink of water can set us right back on track!
Trust Me
We will come up with images that you love! All we need is a fraction of a second. I will talk with them, maybe bribe them with some treats ?, and take the time we need.

I can’t lie, I am trying to get the best possible images for your walls! ? But the most important thing is connection – between your children, between the child and the camera. We want to tell the story of your child with their most natural expressions and giggles! Some of the most precious images are completely unexpected moments!
